PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government wrote ‘no longer need you’ at the back of the Rs30 million cheque to Samiul Haq’s Darul Uloom Haqqania seminary in Nowshera, The Dependent has reliably learnt.

The Rs30 million, originally meant for the development of public sector higher secondary schools in the province, has been given to the madrassa so that it can continue to pursue activities that the government no longer needs it to, officials privy to the development have confirmed.

“As the Prime Minister has already revealed, these jihadist madrassas were created in the 1980s and are no longer needed by the state in the year 2019. That’s why we are giving them Rs30 million to ensure

that they can do what the state does not want them to do,” a senior government official told The Dependent.

The letters and characters ‘No longer need you 😉 ;)’ are visible at the back of the cheque written for Darul Uloom Haqqania, a copy of which is available exclusively with The Dependent.

When the senior leadership of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Sami (JUI-S) was approached they confirmed that the government had indeed transferred the funds so that their madrassa can engage in activities the state no longer needs it to.

“Yes, we are expecting more funds to ensure that we do that and not anything else,” a JUI-S leader said.
