The Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak has said that the nation’s armed forces are more than ready to defend the country against the 18th Amendment.

“Our brave and valiant jawaans and officers have proved time and again that they are more than capable of defending the nation against this sort of menace,” he said, while speaking to reporters at a press conference outside the GHQ, Rawalpindi.

“India, Afghanistan, terrorists within the country, 18th Amendment, NFC award, the challenges are huge,” he said. “But our forces will keep at it, doing their thankless job with grace and aplomb.”

“For this duty, will they ask for accolades? No. Will they ask for laurels? No. Will they ask for thanks? No. Will they ask for permission? Also, no,” he said. “Will they ask for more budget? Maybe.”

“Sorry, again, for doing this press conference outside on the road,” he said, apologetically to the reporters present. “I’ve been told they’ll let us all in just a bit now.
