BRAMPTON – Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal warded away the approach of former Test cricketer Mansoor Akhtar to fix matches during the ongoing Global T20 League in Canada by giving him a severe telling off, The Dependent has reliably learnt.
According to sources, after being approached in person, Umar Akmal asked Mansoor Akhtar to “f*** off” and told him to go look for players “who have control over their own actions.”
Sources reveal that during the conversation, Akmal further told off Akhtar accusing him of disrespect.
“You are mocking me with this fixing offer. If I had the required control, I would be playing for Pakistan right now,” Akmal told Akhtar, sources confirm.
Akmal, 29, reported the approach to the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Global T20 League administration, demanding that action be taken against Akhtar over corruption and for making fun of a professional athlete’s abilities.
“The only thing I want to fix is my behaviour, unprofessionalism which will lead to me fixing my future in international cricket, which is only possible if I can become a permanent fix in the national side,” Akmal told the PCB in his official statement.
