The federal government is reportedly considering replacing the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) chief that it would appoint after replacing the incumbent Shabbar Zaidi.

“Yes, by that time, the next chief would be the incumbent at that point in time, making him ripe for replacement,” said a source inside Q Block, civil secretariat, speaking to The Dependent.

“Additional rumours of his being removed immediately are unfounded because he isn’t FBR chief yet, so he cannot be removed from his position as FBR chief yet,” the source added, requesting anonymity. “Things are different now that we have a sincere government. Everything has to take place in the correct order and sequence.”

When asked whether the FBR chairman after that one would be safe, the source regretted to say said he did not know because he himself had been WhatsApped during the course of the conversation with The Dependent.
