KARACHI – After their engagement at the Lux Style Awards, actors Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain have already received their first high-profile gift in the shape of a much needed Sharia compliance certificate.
The certificate was issued by the highest authority on the matter, Mufti Hamza Ali Abbasi, who shared the certificate on social media so as to confirm to all concerned parties that the much publicised engagement between the two actors, along with the manner of the proposal was completely halaal.
“A man asking a woman for nikkah is halaal and hence neither of them should be stoned to death,” clarified Mufti Hamza Abbasi in his tweet where he also shared the scanned version of the certificate that he had issued.
“Yes he hugged her and kissed her, but that kiss was a few inches away from being haraam. So now you can celebrate Yasir and Iqra,” Mufti Abbasi further added.
Islamic clergy have unanimously issued allegiance to Mufti Abbasi as the highest authority on Sharia compliance certificates in the entertainment industry.
There is general consensus that Mufti Abbasi’s own experience with both haraam and halaal in the industry gives him the edge over everyone else.
“After the bikini scenes in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, there really was no other candidate with the knowledge and understanding on the matter as Mufti Hamza Abbasi,” Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman Prof Dr Qibla Ayaz told The Dependent.
