After seemingly interminable delays, the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit has finally been opened for night cricket for the residents of Peshawar. Speaking at the inaugural match, KP information minister Shaukat Yousufzai said that the media should finally highlight the inauguration instead of always finding faults in the project.

“We are always here at the beck and call of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and our brave armed forces,” he said. “This initiative is going to ensure that there is going to be no interruption to the cricket matches of our youngsters even during rush hour.”

“It will be like an Arbab Niaz Stadium of the common man, except it would be the Peshawar BRT route instead of the Arbab Niaz Stadium,” he said, while speaking to the gathered young and old who wanted the match to finally start.

The inaugural match, however, was discontinued after Yousafzai, who was opening batsman for the KP Govt in the match against the Gulbahar 11, disputed he was out for a duck and, as a protest, took home his bat and asked the Peshawar Regional Transport Authority CEO to shut down the Peshawar BRT for cricket till further notice.
