LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president has quit chairmanship of the all-powerful parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC), eying the same position in the British House of Commons, The Dependent has reliably learnt.

Talking exclusively to The Dependent, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that PML-N MNA from Sheikhupura and former minister Rana Tanveer Hussain has been nominated to replace Sharif, who has been in London to further his political career and further enhance the pedigree of his party.

“He has gone to London to take over the British political scene, and eventually wants to become the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in the House of Commons,” Aurangzeb said.

It is pertinent to mention here that as revealed first by The Dependent, Shehbaz Sharif had also decided to concede his Opposition Leader position. Whereas the PML-N president will be giving that particular role to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Twitter handle, in the meantime it’s Khwaja Mohammad Asif who will serve as the party’s parliamentary leader in the assembly.

“This is of course till we all successfully manage to move to London, and then become opposition leaders, party leaders and spokespersons there,” Aurangzed added
