BEIJING – Uncompromisingly questioning Chinese hegemony over dining options at Beijing’s renowned Wangfujing Snack Street, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday rounded off his China tour with a detailed one on one meeting with the city’s second most popular dumpling vendor, Mr Shi.

During the high level meeting, where the Pakistani premier consumed Cantonese seafood and Sichuan noodles along with multiple servings of the renowned dumplings, Khan conveyed his country’s desire to renegotiate the one-sided terms of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries, via the PM’s interpreter.

Shi, who patiently listened to Khan’s concerns regarding the financial terms between the two countries, and complete Chinese control over the street-food menu at Wangfujing Snack Street, said that he could offer servings of dahi bhallas and gol gappas as well should Khan so wish.

“But of course given your urgent need for them, I would have little choice but to give you the chaats and gol gappas, in exchange for leasing parts of barren land in Balochistan’s Kech district,” Shi said.

Shi further offered Khan a complementary serving of youtiao with a cup of hot soy milk as a gesture of all-weather strategic cooperation to seal the deal.

At press time, PM Khan was signing the lease agreement, giving 1,000 acres of land in Kech to Shi in return for a six gol gappa plate.
