PESHAWAR: Danish Saeed claimed a very deserving gold medal in the opening category of the Mardan District Spring Inter-Club Wushu Championship which concluded at Sports Complex Mardan on Monday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wushu Association President Waheed Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan, Secretary FATA Olympic Association Rehman Gul Afridi, Provincial General Secretary and coach Najum Uddin, officials, players and spectators were also present.
Speaking on this occasion Waheed Khan appreciated Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan for organizing a wide range of Janshan-e-Baharan (Spring) Martial Arts Festival that included Taekwondo, Wushu, Judo, Karak, Moi Thai, Boxing, Full Body Contact.
He said such like event would certainly play a key role in providing opportunities to the upcoming young players to come up in various Martial Arts Games besides helping in searching new talent.
Kashif Farhan on this occasion disclosed that the aim and objective of the Spring Martial Arts Festival is to search out new faces in all Martial Arts Games in Mardan and Swabi. He also lauded District Nazim Mardan Ihstisham Khan, Deputy Commissioner Mardan and Regional Sports Officer Swabi Muhammad Tariq Khan for extending all-out support for the success of Spring Sports Martial Arts Festival in Mardan.
Earlier, in different weight categories the players excelled their performances and received cheering response from the sitting spectators. In the 44kg weight category Sajilah, another promising player, claimed gold medal after defeating her strong rival Zainab Khan on points, Komal took bronze medals.
In the other weight categories including 42kg weight Amna won gold medal after defeating Sumaira while Zarmeena and Mehak took bronze medal, in the 65kg weight category Sara recorded victory against Reena and Hira while Loverza and Madiha took bronze medals and in the open weight category Danish Saeed, who had the honor of winning gold medal in the National Championship held in Lahore and was selected in the Pakistan Wushu team for the forthcoming South Asian Games to played in Katmandu, Nepal, Danish Saeed won gold medal by defeating Maryum, Ania and Baseerat got the bronze medal while Husna was given a consolation prize.
In the overall Inter-Club Team Wushu Championship University Club won the overall trophy by securing 55 points, followed by Nippon Club with 45 points. Both female and male players from Swabi, Malakand, are taking part in the Spring Martial Arts Festival to be continued one month. In the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and medals to the position holders.
