SHARJAH: Pakistan-born-Australian leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed has been excited to see the return of international cricket in his birth country.

The 37-year-old – who is a part of Quetta Gladiators’ squad – on Tuesday said that the “mere thought of playing the Pakistan-leg of the event is exciting”.

Ahmed was born in then-North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan and moved to Australia in 2010.

“I am happy to be a part of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and will try to lead my team into the finals,” he said while talking to a local media outlet.

Expressing delight over being a part of PSL, Ahmed said that “the celebrated event gave me an opportunity to play outside Australia”.

He also thanked the Gladiators’ management for inducting him in the squad.

“I will perform to the best of my abilities,” he vowed.
