Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday urged India to refrain from levelling baseless accusations against Pakistan hours after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his country would give a ‘strong reply’ to those behind the Kashmir attack and New Delhi withdrew the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) trade status given to Pakistan.

Responding to the allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in the suicide attack in occupied Kashmir’s Pulwama district, which killed at least 44 Indian security personnel, Qureshi said Pakistan has always advocated peace with neighbouring countries and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s peace overture to India was on record.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal rejected “any insinuation by elements in Indian government and media circles that seek to link the attack to State of Pakistan without investigations”.

In a tweet, the Foreign Office spokesman added that the attack in Indian occupied Kashmir was a matter of grave concern and Pakistan had always condemned heightened acts of violence in the Valley.
