ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday inaugurated the first unit of 4th Extension Power Project of Tarbela, reported by Radio Pakistan.
The project is being constructed on tunnel four of Tarbela Dam with three proposed units with installed capacity of 470MW each.
The second unit of the project is scheduled to be commissioned in April followed by the third unit in May this year.
The project upon completion will increase total generation capacity of Tarbela Hydel Power Station from existing 3,478 MW to 4,888MW.
The Tarbela 4th extension project will provide 3.84 billion units of electricity to the national grid per annum.
