MUMBAI – A deadly new gang that goes by the name of ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ has emerged in the South Asian region that is looting masses by luring them into shiny screens inside big buildings.

While intelligence agencies and relevant authorities in the region had predicted the rise of this deadly gang a few months ago, they weren’t aware of the scale of the robberies that it would engage in.

“The initial glimpses of Thugs of Hindostan proved that it is going to loot people in India, and other South Asian countries, but it is only this week that we’ve realized just how massive the looting has been and is going to be,” leading inspector Taran Adarsh told The Dependent.

According to reports the gang’s modus operandi is unique. It puts up big banners and attractive posters that lure the gullible into buildings that have often have multiple big rooms.

“These rooms have a huge screen and lots of seats that face the screen which is very shiny and attractive,” said Manish Pradhuman, one of the gang’s victims while talking to The Dependent.

‘Thugs of Hindostan’ can steal anything ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 1,000 depending on the building you’re lured into. And given the number of its victims, it expects to muster loot worth hundreds of millions.

“However, there’s a good chance it might not make enough money to cover the costs it paid to put the gang together,” revealed analyst Rajeev Masand.
