Hot on the heels of Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar asking Prime Minister Imran Khan to pay the regularisation fee for the Bani Gala Estate, the apex court has also asked the PM to pay regularisation fee in the 2018 elections rigging case.
Earlier, the Bani Gala Estate and the adjoining construction had been deemed by the Supreme Court as illegal and against the CDA bylaws.
As a result of this, several houses were demolished by the enforcement wing of the CDA. However, the Prime Minister’s estate was not felled and he was asked to pay regularisation fee instead.
“The same principle has been set as precedent for the current decision,” said the CJP to the prime minister’s counsel.
“You have to pay up for the regularisation and de jure legitimacy of your government. They are 14 working days within which your client has got to pay the stipulated amount.”
“After the payment of said amount, we will allow for your client to be referred to without quotation marks,” he continued.
“Furthermore, he has to personally fill out the missing Form 45 documents that weren’t available to the polling agents on July 25th.”
