A total of 27 senior officials in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Directorate of Fisheries have been suspended over violating merit rules in recruitment, a local media outlet reported on Sunday.

The recruitment of low-cadre employees in the directorate has also been halted.

According to Minister Mohibullah Khan, the officials were suspended after an inquiry against them was conducted related to hiring.

However, the suspended officials have alleged that they have been victimised for disobeying ‘”illegal order” from the minister when he was special assistant to KP chief minister in the previous government.

They alleged that he wanted to have his own people appointed in the directorate but they had refused to do so.
