ISLAMABAD – Continuing with his surge of revolutionary undertakings since being elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan is ready to set yet another example of upholding democracy by staging a protest against his own government.
Prime Minister Imran Khan is slated to address the nation after Eid to announce a dharna against massive pre-poll rigging in the recent elections, sources close to PM Khan revealed to The Dependent.
Khan has decided to take this action to put the current government under pressure to fulfill its promise of elimination of corruption, nepotism, bribery, road rage, amebiasis, eve-teasing and lactose intolerance within the first hundred days of its rule.
DJ Butt has started preparing for the massive sit-in, well-placed sources in Lahore confirmed.
The proposed dharna will be staged at D-chowk and scores of newly minted Pakistan Tehik-e-Insaf (PTI) members and allies shall take part in it, after finishing their day jobs at the Parliament house.
A concurrent (but PG-18 only) dharna will be arranged by Khadim Rizvi a few meters away from D-chowk.
“The bedrock of democracy is the right to protest and PM Khan is determined to use that right for at least the next hundred days,” said Fawad Chaudhry, the new Federal Information Minister.
