ISLAMABAD – Narrating his successful journey and the struggle that he has had to endure all through it, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi revealed that after striving for all those years, he is exactly where he wanted to be.
“I left the Pakistan People’s Party as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, a position I had to vacate,” Qureshi said while talking to The Dependent in an exclusive interview.
“Then I joined the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf to reignite my ambitions. And now after struggling hard for seven long years, I am exactly where I was sever years ago – I am still the Foreign Minister of Pakistan,” he added.
When asked that even though his tall ambition was to be exactly where he was earlier at the beginning of this decade, if holding the portfolio with a PTI government felt any different to holding it with a PPP government, Qureshi replied, “not really.”
“I mean a lot of the people I’ve worked with over the years are my colleagues now, so in that regard it doesn’t feel much different,” he continued. “But you see that is precisely the point I am making – that was precisely my ambition. To be exactly where I was, surrounded by people similar to those I surrounded myself with.”
Qureshi confessed that he is his own man, and while he realises he fit perfectly with his party’s plans, he still has his personal interests as well.
“Personally, I’m not a big fan of change to be honest,” he concluded.
