A disappointing turn of events on Saturday for Chairman of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan as he realised that he had only been dreaming of having become the prime minister in 2018 and then facing a severe economic and political crisis on his hands in 2019.

“Yes, I had dozed off after the day’s rally in our ongoing dharna,” said a dishevelled Imran Khan, speaking exclusively to The Dependent.

“Usually I go back to Bani Gala but last night I decided to stay in. I saw the most vivid dream.”

“It was so vivid.”

Rumour mills had started doing the rounds after Khan and PAT chief Tahir-ul-Qadri left for the GHQ in Rawalpindi to meet army chief Gen Raheel Sharif. Unverified stories abound of certain reassurances having been given to the PTI leader at that meeting in the GHQ.

“No, I won’t talk about any such alleged ‘assurances about the future’ having been made to us by the army chief,” he said.

“But, yes,” he said, drifting off dreamily into space.

“That guy sure knows how to paint a pretty picture about the future.”

He soon snapped back into focus. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have another interview lined up. Reham Khan, from Dawn News. Do you know her?”
