The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) held a public rally at Peshawar’s Ring Road on Sunday.

Addressing the rally, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq said that the public should unite to rid the country of corrupt mafia by voting them out of the system.

He said the leaders of MMA, a political coalition of religious parties, were not corrupt as not a single one of them had been mentioned in the Panama Papers.

Earlier in June, the religious parties’ alliance had announced their 12-point manifesto for the General Elections 2018.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had said on the occasion that MMA’s manifesto included implementation of Shariat, safeguarding Islamic provisions in the constitution, empowering the parliament, reforming the judiciary, and ensuring devolution of power.

Moreover, Fazl had said that Pakistan would have an independent and dignified foreign policy if the people vote MMA into power. He had further added, “New provinces should not be created on linguistic basis. Nevertheless, this alliance would not oppose any movement that calls for the creation of new provinces.”

Furthermore, the JUI-F chief had said that the alliance would give priority to education, creating employment opportunities, abolishing unnecessary direct and indirect taxes, and subsidy of necessity items.

He had also said that MMA would push forward for the construction of new dams, improving the power sector, and formulating a strategy to counter Indian water terrorism in South Asia.
