ISLAMABAD/LAHORE/KARACHI – Two of the four Lollywood releases on Eid, Javed Sheikh directed Wujood and Moammar Rana starring Azadi have agreed seat adjustment for the second weekend, after respective struggles in the opening week, The Dependent has reliably learnt.
Sources within both camps have confirmed that the relatively better fortunes of Saat Din Mohabbat In and the lifting of the week long ban on Bollywood films, which will allow Race 3 and Sanju to be released in the coming days, necessitated the alliance.
“We’ve agreed to combine the seats bought for the screenings of Wujood and Azadi at multiplexes, with joint screenings in the same hall to beef up the seat tally at any given team,” a senior producer informed The Dependent.
Multiple multiplexes have confirmed that they are merging the Wujood and Azadi screenings, which will boost attendances inside the halls.
“This allows moviegoers to enjoy two films for the price of one, while the filmmakers can point to the fact that their films didn’t witness empty halls on the second weekend,” a cinema owner confirmed.
While the seat adjustment wouldn’t result in direct revenue hike at a particular screening, box office analysts say that the combined screening would result in a positive word of mouth, which could see both films last as long as late Monday afternoon.
