LONDON – Accepting that telling his team to play their natural game two matches in a row might’ve been imprudent, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed said that he should’ve come up with something different.
Talking to The Dependent, Sarfraz said sometimes even if it ain’t broke you have to fix it.
“It isn’t every day that the same strategy can work in different ways in different matches, different set of circumstances, and different states of mind,” Sarfraz said.
“So even though I just told the team exactly what I had told them at Lord’s, to go out and play their natural game, because the situation was vastly different, so were the results,” he added.
The Pakistan captain said that his side entered the first match as underdogs, wherein natural game meant something in complete contrast to what it means when the team are actually given better odds to bag the right results.
“So as it turns out natural game at Lord’s meant proving the world wrong and springing a surprise like only we could, at natural game at Leeds meant proving the world wrong and springing a surprise like only we could,” Sarfraz said.
