Expressing disappointment at the appointment of Hassan Askari as caretaker Punjab CM, PTI leader Shireen Mazari has said that former bureaucrat and her party’s nominee for the spot Orya Maqbool Jan will always be the ‘caretaker CM of hearts.’
“It was unfortunate that the Punjab government could not reach an agreement with us on the choice of caretaker CM, even though we presented an option as dynamic and uncontroversial as Orya Maqbool Jan” she said speaking to the media.
“The public is clear on this matter, Orya Maqbool Jan is the caretaker Punjab CM of their hearts. The Awam ki adalat is in and the ruling has come in Orya’s favour.”
“We tried everything to settle on a name. In fact, we offered so many names that some of us in the party weren’t even sure who was on the shortlist or not.”
“But throughout the process the Chairman kept reminding us that Orya Maqbool Jan was the ideal choice for the position, and that he would bring to the job exactly the kind of spirit and thinking that the PTI stands for” she said.
When questioned by the members of the media, Ms Mazari said that the deadlock was not the PTI’s fault and that the PML-N was not supposed to accept the first candidate they proposed.
“Sheesh, ever heard of playing hard to get? No thank you but we won’t accept your acceptance of our candidate” she ended.
