ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage has asked the local moviegoers to support the local film industry by giving them Eidi this year

The ministry has set up a moratorium period to collect the Eidi starting two days before Eidul Fitr up till originally two weeks after it, a period which was reduced to one week.

“We just figured that those who might be willing to give the local filmmakers Eidi this year would have more than enough time to do so in a week,” a ministry official said while talking to The Dependent.

“This Eidi would help the revival of the revival of the film industry,” the official added

Reliable sources have also revealed that the government is already working on policies on zakat and sadqa, which could be given to the local film industry Eidul Azha onwards.

In this regard, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has been approached and requested to approve the move so that the revival of the film industry can also become Sharia compliant. How

“Unfortunately, they still haven’t got back after sitting through the screening of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani,” an official told The Dependent.
