ISLAMABAD – Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa met interim Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk at his office to discuss caretaker civil-military relations, a caretaker statement from the caretaker PM Office said on Wednesday.

Gen Bajwa congratulated PM Mulk on assuming the office of prime minister and discussed caretaker civil-military agreements and disagreements.

The army chief and the caretaker prime minister also discussed “caretaker matters pertaining to security” during their meeting, read the statement.

In the caretaker meeting between the military and caretaker civil relationship, the Army chief reassured that there was no threat to democracy – caretaker or otherwise.

A caretaker reconciliatory note was struck during the meeting, witnesses have told The Dependent.

“The caretaker meeting had all that one could ask for in the greater interests of the country, which is currently traversing a caretaker period,” a caretaker source revealed under strict condition of caretaking anonymity.

Sources close to Nasir-ul-Mulk have revealed that the Caretaker PM was particularly excited by the materialising of the meeting, and feels that this bodes well for the future.

“He believes caretaker democracy is safe,” a source said. “The caretaker PM is confident about completing his tenure.”
