ISLAMABAD – Now that his joining the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has become a mere formality, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has told PTI chief Imran Khan that he mightn’t do the obvious.
“Bro can’t join your party now that everyone expects me to,” Nisar told Imran on WhatsApp on Friday. “I know it looks inevitable now, but that’s precisely why I no longer want to do it.”
Nisar clarified that it wasn’t a case of stage fright or cold feet, he can’t be a part of the crowd.
“This need to stand out overshadows the political gains that I may or may not have if I left the PML-N to join you,” Nisar told Imran. “I have to do what no one else is doing, and what no one expects to happen. I can’t, you know, go with the flow and be a part of the crowd.”
After nonstop messages by Nisar for 30 minutes, Imran told him to relax a bit.
“Relax bro, I just praised you for not listening to Maryam, because we’re brothers man,” he messaged, tilting the level of expectation around Nisar joining the PTI down, with further such actions to tilt the balance expected in the next few weeks.
