Justice should not only be done but also seen to be done and that is amiss in the case of Rao Anwaar. These were the words of Ehsanullah Ehsan on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after Juma break, he said that there is something suspicious about the seemingly lenient behaviour that the state is showing this killer.
“The courts should follow the law and not public opinion, but surely the honourable lordships would know how suspicious the current situation looks,” he said.
“I am absolving no one of responsibility. Not the security establishment, the law enforcement agencies or even the courts themselves.”
“Despite being ordered by the court to appear, the man was nowhere to be found, although conveniently conveying to the court that he wanted his bank accounts unfrozen,” he said.
“Do you think it is that easy to disappear without some help and support from certain officials within the state as well? No, absolutely not.”
“I saw him on TV the other day. He even exchanged a relaxed laughter with a colleague of his. How much would this image of his laughter weigh on the families of his victims. Ever thought of that?”
