KARACHI – Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar, being investigated for extrajudicial killing, who was arrested on Wednesday after finally appearing before the Supreme Court after eluding law enforcement agencies

for over a month, was actually caught wearing the Karachi Kings jersey at the Gaddafi Stadium, during the Peshawar Zalmi-Quetta Gladiators playoff on Tuesday, The Dependent has learnt.

Rao Anwar, whose last known update was provided by The Dependent, when he last month asked for protection from the Supreme Court and more ice from the room service at Islamabad’s Marriott, was spotted by law enforcement personnel inside Imran Khan enclosure at the Gaddafi Stadium during the first eliminator, sources privy to the development have told The Dependent.

“When we first asked him what he was doing at the stadium, he completely denied that he was Rao Anwar,” a senior law enforcement official said. “It was only after we saw Anwar 10 at the back of his Kings jersey and a placard that read ‘Boom Boom I miss you, I’m the Boom Boom of the Police world’, that he was holding for the cameras that we realised who he was.”

Officials further confirmed that the former SSP was given two choices whether to appear before the Supreme Court the next day or wear the Lahore Qalandars jersey for the remainder of the playoff.

“He obviously chose the former,” the official confirmed.
