LAHORE/MOSCOW – Underscoring Vladimir’s cruise to victory in Russia’s presidential election on Sunday, which gave him at least another six years in power, as ‘revamping of the status quo’, ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that this is the latest example of how things are changing in global politics.
Talking about Putin, who has ruled Russia for almost two decades, and recorded his best ever election performance with more than 76 per cent of the vote, Nawaz said that he expects similar shakeup in Pakistan this year.
“There is a global revolution brewing and it will bear its fruits in Pakistan this year after the elections as well,” Nawaz said in an exclusive interview with The Dependent.
“The masses are growing tired of the invisible forces, and their visible judges, taking away their right – their right to elect Nawaz Sharif as the Prime Minister.”
Nawaz further added that the Russian elections were a verdict against his disqualification as the Pakistani premier.
“Millions of Russians did not vote for Putin. They voted for Nawaz Sharif,” Nawaz maintained. “People all around the world are tired of what has been going on for the past 70 years. They all want to see Nawaz Sharif as the Prime Minister.”
