LAHORE – Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) Chief Tahir-ul-Qadri has confirmed that the extension given to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah with regards to tendering their resignations is owing to winter holidays.
Talking exclusively to The Dependent, Qadri said like others around the world he too deserves a winter break and so do all the opposition parties that have joined hands with the PAT in demanding resignations from Sanaullah and Sharif.
“We all deserve a break,” Qadri said while talking to The Dependent. “Politics is a full-time job and every professional deserves to take some time off to focus on other things in life and complete many unfinished chores. This is especially true for political activists who do not have any elected representation in the parliaments, but also true for political leaders who ally with them.”
It is pertinent to mention here that both the provincial chief and law ministers were originally given a deadline of December 31 to step down from their positions, failing which the PAT threatened to lockdown Punjab’s capital Lahore.
“Locking down a city takes a lot of resources, especially human resources. So it’s always a better idea to do it after summer or winter breaks,” Qadri told The Dependent.
“Trust me, this is experience talking.”
