KARACHI – The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday thundered against the “double standards” displayed by the Pakistani voters, specifically those in Lahore and Peshawar, when voting for other parties in comparison with PPP candidates, and tabled a resolution in the house to this effect.

PPP’s election strategy, that failed to get any meaningful number of votes in NA-120 in September and NA-4 last week, was today presented in the assembly amid tight security ─ and a shower of rose petals from its supporters.

The once successful election-winning strategy lambasted the voters for hindering its arrival in Islamabad despite having secured multiple election wins in the past.

“They arrest me when I try to get in Islamabad,” the strategy told lawmakers in the provincial assembly. “I can’t even think of going inside Lahore anymore, and Peshawar appears impossible as well. At this rate I won’t feel safe in Karachi either,” it added.

The strategy was, however, quick to point out the alleged difference in treatment afforded to strategies of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI).

“Even the Milli Muslim League and Tehrik-e-Labaikk Pakistan are getting preferential treatment,” the PPP strategy said.
