LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi on Monday said that after Sri Lanka’s successful visit to Lahore for a Twenty20 international match, the Board remains ‘hopeful’ that Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar will visit Pakistan next year.

“We have the option of hosting Altaf Hussain and Pervez Musharraf, too. However, after visits by the World XI and Sri Lanka teams to Lahore, we want to invite the big games to play in Pakistan, ” Sethi told The Dependent.

“Hence, we are trying to host Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar next year in Pakistan. I am hopeful that they will visit in next 12 months,” Sethi added.

It is pertinent to mention here that both Sharif and Dar have recently turned down requests to tour Pakistan citing medical reasons.

However, the PCB chairman ensures that both medical and security arrangements are there to cater to the needs of the international players.

“We were given a very full and comprehensive briefing by the security agencies which was heartening, the briefing was very detailed,” Sethi said.

“The agencies have said themselves that there is no need to be scared, so we’re positive that the tours would go ahead very soon.”
