A massive, nationwide hack has been reported across the country, resulting in the breach of over 46 per cent of the WiFi networks.

According to industry insiders, the hackers used the simple but clever method of typing in “12345678” in the Enter Password textfield for all the WiFi networks that happened to have “12345678” as their passwords. “Since a full 46% of the nation’s WiFi networks have the password, the results have been devastating,” said Haider Raza, of the Cyber Crimes Division, Federal Investigation Agency.

Experts believe that another such massive hack is in the offing. “We have reason to believe that the hackers will now move on to their next technique, popularly known as the ‘type password’ method which will grant them access to all networks which have ‘password’ as the password,” Raza warned. “And these constitute around 24% of the passwords of all WiFi networks.”

He warned that if steps were not taken, those WiFi networks of the country, with passwords of either “Pakistan”, “pakistan” or “Pakistan1947” could also be vulnerable to those hackers who type in “Pakistan”, “pakistan” or “Pakistan1947” in the Enter Password textfield, which contribute, cumulatively, 12 % of all WiFi networks.”
