WASHINGTON – Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar lived up to his word and slapped US President Donald Trump with receipts from the USAID funding for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) projects, The Dependent has learnt.
Asad Umar, who arrived in Washington during the early hours of Monday morning, is now heading back after successfully getting more American money.
“Only Rs 7 billion funding from US Aid?” Asad Umar shouted at Trump before pushing the latest whitepaper for the year 2017-18 funding from the development partners of the KP government. “Even UK’s Department of International Development (DFID) is giving almost Rs 6 billion!” he further yelled.
“Shame on you Trump! How can you even think that a self-respecting provincial government like ours would happily take money that is only 16 percent more than funding that an organization based in the UK can manage?”
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the PTI leader’s show of bravado intimidated the US president who signed a blank cheque for Asad Umar.
“He signed a note on an A4 paper for him as well, which read: ‘I’m sorry Pakistan’” said one of the eyewitnesses wishing strict anonymity citing the PTI leader’s rage.
Reports confirmed that Asad Umar wrote ‘Tehrik-e-Insaf’ at the end of the note.
