In a series of tweets, a Twitter user (@bypassmaster), suspected to be closely linked to Apple iCloud hackers, has leaked screenshots of Nawaz Sharif’s playlists in iTunes.
At 10,251 plays, REM’s Everybody Hurts is the most played track by Nawaz Sharif and is at the top of his “25 Most Played” playlist on iTunes. Released as a single in 1993, right around the time of dissolution of Nawaz Sharif’s government, the track is deemed a vintage classic, which a Ministry of Culture spokesperson said, carries immense sentimental value for the 3-time prime minister.
The hacker also mentioned that these numbers may be understated, because, according to sources close to the PML-N leader, Nawaz Sharif always forgets to sync the music from his phone.
“These play counts are from music played on his laptop only,” he said, adding that “We don’t really know what he is listening to on the road and how much”.
Strangely, there is an untitled track in the playlist from an unknown artist. Rumours are that the track may be unveiled in the next PML-N rallies for the NA-120 by-polls.
There are also some tracks on the list that are not available to public, including “Big Brother (Shehbaz adlibs)”, presumably a version of the track by American rapper Kanye West, which according to a Patari.pk employee, who wished to remain anonymous, was possibly a dedication to Nawaz Sharif on his 67th birthday by Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif.
Here is the screenshot of the full playlist, which has been sorted by play count by the former premier himself:
Music critic Shamshad Munshi has lauded the eclectic taste of the former prime minister, which he said was a reflection of Nawaz Sharif’s complex personality and his difficult journey through Pakistan’s political realm. In his review of the leaked playlist, Munshi rated the diversity of tracks 4.5 stars out 5, while rating his ratings only 2.5 stars out 5, for a “lack of range”.
The hacker has said that he has access to the iTunes database of Imran Khan as well, which he will reveal soon. Hinting at what to expect from the upcoming leaks and the PTI chairman’s choices, the hacker said that “there is a lot, and I mean…a lot of stuff contained in his home videos library.”
