Member of the National Assembly from Mansehra from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Capt (retd) Safdar has written to Jared Kushner for advice.

According to the letter, which was made available to The Dependent, the son-in-law of the Pakistani head of government has asked the son-in-law of the US head of government and state for advice on how to maintain a relevance within the federal government.

“I see, sir, that you are currently Senior Advisor to the President at the White House,” wrote Safdar. “I am only head of the party’s youth wing, which became a khhudey lain wing of the party the day I was given this charge. I am not imagining it. Party officials said as much to my face.”

“I am at my wits’ end. I asked my wife what I could do, and she advised for sabr,” he wrote. “I asked my family what I could do and they said that even though they loved me greatly, they thought that merely being made an MNA was much more than I deserved and that I should be happy with what I had.”

“What do you suggest, good sir?”

“I can completely empathise where you come from,” wrote Kushner in response. “I think the key is to emphasise on the importance of family. I’m not asking you yourself to emphasise this to your father-in-law. I’m asking you to listen to what you said your family told you.”
