Sharif moves to tear while listening to story of child suffering from bone disease
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to DHQ Hospital and Sasta Ramzan Bazaar in Sabzi Mandi Sheikhupura without protocol on Monday.
The CM reached the hospital without prior information in a coach and reviewed medical facilities being provided to the patients and the steps taken for providing relief to the people in Ramzan bazaar under the Ramzan package. He also checked prices and quality of daily use items at different stalls in the bazaar. He went to different wards, inquired after the patients and asked the patients and their attendants about the availability of medical facilities in the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that he is paying surprise visits to the hospitals for ensuring the provision of better treatment facilities to the patients. He said that resources of billions of rupees are being provided for ensuring the provision of free medicines to the people every year in the hospitals and added that fruits of these resources should reach the people at every cost.
On complaints of some patients, the CM issued necessary orders for immediate treatment. He also announced treatment and financial assistance for some poor and resourceless patients. Sharif said that he will continue serving the people his entire life.
The CM also met a child, Wasim, suffering from bone disease under treatment at the hospital and was moved to tears while listening to the child narrating his harrowing story.
Wasim narrated his story to the CM that he neither has a father nor a mother and he is alone in this world. He is feeling great pain due to his disease. He told the CM that he is the Khadim-e-Punjab, so he should help him.
The CM moved to tears while listening to Wasim and said that all treatment facilities will be provided free of cost to Wasim. He said that Punjab government will look after and care for him. The CM also asked from the doctors present there with regard to the treatment of Wasim and issued necessary directions.
Sharif described consultant physician Dr Adnan Qaiser as a ‘messiah’ in the real sense who is serving the ailing humanity in the hospital. He directed to shift the patients suffering from complicated diseases to the hospitals of Lahore and announced financial assistance for some poor patients.
The CM directed to improve hygiene arrangements in the hospital. He expressed indignation to DCO Sheikhupura for not paying visits to the hospital regularly and said that he should be careful in future, as it is his duty to visit the hospital and take immediate steps for resolving the problems. He ordered DCO Sheikhupura to submit a report after checking all medicines in the store. He directed to shift the patients suffering from complicated diseases to the hospitals of Lahore. Some attendants of the patients complained about improper treatment facilities, upon which, the CM directed MS and concerned authorities for a regular check up of the patients and resolve complaints in this regard. He directed to take immediate steps for resolving matters of the hospital.
Later, the CM paid a surprise visit to Sasta Ramzan Bazaar in Sabzi Mandi Sheikhupura and checked the quality and prices of edible items, fruits, vegetables and pulses. The consumers expressed satisfaction with the provision of daily use items at affordable rates in the bazaar and said that relief is being provided to the people due to this revolutionary step of the CM.
Talking to the consumers, Sharif said that Punjab government has announced a historic relief package of billions of rupees for providing relief to the common man. For this purpose, more than 300 Ramzan bazaars have been set up throughout the province – where flour, pulses, ghee, vegetables, fruits, meat and daily use commodities are available to the people at cheaper rates, he added.
He said that common man is benefiting from fruits of Ramzan package and added that provision of relief to the people will be continued at every level. The CM said that he is visiting Ramzan bazaars to check quality and prices of daily use items. He said that fixed prices and quality of edible items are being strictly implemented.
Talking to the CM, the consumers said that daily use items in these bazaars are cheaper and better in quality than the open market. They said that people are getting relief under Ramzan package in the real sense and holding of Ramzan bazaars for the provision of relief to the people is a good initiative.
Talking to media, Sharif said that he visited the hospital today and he was pleased to see the availability of medical facilities, the presence of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff and provision of medicines to the patients. He appreciated Dr Adnan Qaiser and said that he is busy in serving the ailing humanity. The CM said that all the patients praised Dr Qaiser and added that such doctors will be fully encouraged. He said that record funds have been allocated for the upgradation of all the DHQ hospitals of Punjab in the budget of next financial year and CT scan machine will be provided in the hospital of every district so that the trend of patients going from hospitals of small cities to hospitals of big cities could be reduced. He said that system of supply and provision of medicines is being further improved.
Replying to a question, Sharif said during his visit, he has seen that MS is present in the hospital and nurses and doctors are also performing their duties efficiently. To another question, the CM said that a meeting has been held with the delegation of young doctors and soon he will meet senior doctors and problems of doctors will be solved amicably. Replying to another question, Shehbaz Sharif said that a coordinated strategy has been evolved for proper disposal of waste of the hospitals, which will soon be implemented.
Talking to media in Ramzan bazaar, the chief minister said that excellent arrangements have been made in the bazaar. Consumers have also expressed satisfaction over these arrangements, he added. He congratulated the administration, traders and shopkeepers on excellent arrangements.
