The management of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre has once condemned what it calls “baseless accusations” regarding investments of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT).
In a statement released on Tuesday, the hospital management said, “It is regrettable that a globally-acclaimed charitable institution is being unnecessarily targeted by some politicians for their political motives. It is pertinent to mention here that all details regarding this matter have been previously shared in depth with the public.”
“The investment was made by the SKMT for its endowment fund on the recommendations of the investment committee. This investment was clearly reflected in the audited accounts when it was made and now it is visible in the accounts when it has been returned in full,” it added.
The management further said that these transactions were and are publicly viewable on the organisation’s website, adding that the existence of this investment was transparent and not a secret revealed by some third party.
The management appealed to all the politicians not to involve this credible organisation into any sort of politics and let it achieve its goal of serving the humanity.
