The probation period of about 80 officials working in the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has been extended for three months even after the Ministry of Water and Power issued directives for cancellation of their appointments and making fresh recruitments.

Sources said that about 80 people were recruited in Grade 17 and 18 in the IESCO against the rules and regulations. The Ministry of Water and Power had on February 4, through a letter, declared these appointments as cancelled and decided to make fresh recruitment, but the IESCO in defiance of the ministry’s orders extended the probation period of these officers for three months instead of making fresh recruitments.
