- Punjab CM orders survey for providing financial assistance to small cultivators
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said the historic agricultural relief package would help small farmers to live a standard life besides flourishing the agriculture sector.
Addressing a meeting held to review different proposals for implementation of the prime minister’s agricultural relief package, the chief minister observed that agriculture was the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and the country’s progress was linked with prosperity of the farming community.
Sharif directed the departments concerned to work actively for implementation of the relief package and long-term planning should be devised for development of the agriculture sector.
He asked for a survey with the help of modern technology for collecting authentic data for providing financial assistance to small cultivators.
The chief minister directed the Punjab Information Technology Board, SUPARCO, Urban Unit and Land Record Management Information System to immediately evolve a method for technology-led survey.
Sharif said the method for survey should be decided at the earliest so that the programme of distribution of financial assistance to small cultivators could be started.
He also directed that a comprehensive programme for distribution of financial assistance among small farmers be evolved and final recommendations be submitted.
Punjab ministers Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Bilal Yasin, Dr Farrukh Javed, and secretaries concerned attended the meeting.
