Hearing the Balochistan unrest case on Tuesday, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said evidence was available against Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in some missing persons’ cases.

The chief justice was heading the bench hearing the case at the Quetta Registry of the Supreme Court. The case is based on a petition filed by the Balochistan Bar Association on the law and order in Balochistan.

During the proceedings, the CJP added that relatives of missing persons had been claiming that the FC was involved in some of the disappearances.

He said that FC Inspector General Major General Shahid Ijaz should stay in the court until the recovery of the ‘missing’.

The chief justice also commented on the smuggling of drugs and weapons from across the Afghan border and inquired the Preventive Assistant Collector Amanullah Tareen regarding the usefulness of police checkpoints.

He concluded the hearing by stating that the border should be sealed in order to improve the country’s financial situation.
