The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) central coordination committee on Thursday strongly condemned the killing of the MQM’s Transport Wing Member Mohammad Ashraf.
The committee demanded the immediate arrest of all culprits involved in killing.
On Tuesday Ashraf was on his way home with his son when armed miscreants opened fire on his bike from close range in the Paposh Nagar area. Five bullets pierced into Ashraf’s body while two hit others his son. The victims, in critical condition, were immediately transported to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Ashraf later succumbed to his injuries. However, his son was being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
The MQM coordination committee declared the incident an attempt to destabilize the city’s peace and demanded the immediate arrest and the staunchest possible punishment for the terrorists involved in this brutal incident.
The committee said that criminal elements had been freely killing MQM workers and sympathizers vis-à-vis pre-planned conspiracies to worsen the law and order situation of Karachi and to destabilize the country.
Furthermore, the committee said “Dozens of MQM workers had been killed in the current month but not even a single killer had been arrested which clearly showed that the terrorists had the government’s support”.
The committee prayed to the Lord for divine forgiveness, eternal peace of the departed soul and also prayed for the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss with courage and patience. Later, the committee demanded Sindh’s Governor Ishrat ul Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take serious notice of killing, and moreover, award stern punishments to the terrorists involved in such heinous crimes.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain expressed his deepest sympathies to the mourning family members of the deceased, and said that he and every MQM worker was sorely grieved by the killing.
