US rep arrives today to shatter deadlock in Afghan reconciliatory process

US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan James Dobbins will arrive in Islamabad on Friday to conduct diplomatic efforts to break the deadlock in the Afghan reconciliatory process.

Dobbins will meet senior Pakistani officials including the Prime Minister’s National Security and Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz during his two-day trip to Islamabad.

Media reports said that Dobbins will discuss ways to revive the Qatar process with Pakistani authorities.

Diplomatic sources added that Dobbins would also finalise the agenda for US Secretary of State John Kerry’s forthcoming visit to Pakistan, which they estimate will take place by the end of this month.
