Help flood affectees

It has been the third consecutive year in which Pakistan is facing the flood catastrophe. Since we are living in the 21st century I cannot digest the idea that PMD failed to predict the upcoming floods. At one point or another, the government must have received the warnings but why did it fail to take any preventive measures? Let’s forget this negligence of the authorities and move to the next step which is the rehabilitation of the flood victims which was greatly taken care of by the general public in the last two years. But this year, millions of people are homeless right now waiting for some help to come. Do we as a nation have lost our sense of obligation to help those in need? Or have we accustomed ourselves to the idea of floods thinking that as long as we are not the affectees we should carry on with our lives? Is there any antidote of this apathy?

  1. It is simple common sense that where there are rivers there will be floods; the only way to minimise flood damage is by building dams; this is what the whole world is doing.
