Through your esteemed newspaper, I want to divert attention towards the serious issue of people being fooled by fake amils claim to cure people by indulging in many exploitative and criminal activities such as giving them amulets, extorting money on different pretexts, harassing them, and staging different occultish farces.
More and more people have become susceptible to this trend as they believe in the spiritual powers of these quacks and amulets. Many people are subjected to so many strains and stresses in Pakistani society (inflation, hunger power shortage, water shortage, gas shortage, bad law and order etc,) that it is no wonder that they look for any avenue to provide them with relief and solve their problems.
Our authorities should take serious steps against these fake amils, pirs and babas as their exploitation is often very extreme and serious. Moreover, the government should provide appropriate psychological counselling at public health centre for people suffering from different issues so that they don’t feel the need to go to these fakers in the first place.
