Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Sector Shehnaz Wazir Ali said that the tribal areas of the South Waziristan and other areas should support anti-polio campaign in their respective areas.
Talking to a private TV channel, she said it was a hard time to administer a campaign against polio in tribal areas due to deteriorating security situation and scattered population. She said locals of tribal areas are using vaccination campaign as counter negotiation.
Recently, local elders said they will not allow vaccination campaign until end of unscheduled load shedding, she said.
Shehnaz said the government is ready to hold negotiations with them in this regard as a Taliban commander announced that he is ready to hold negotiations with the government if political agent lifts curfew in the area.
Replying to another question, she said they can convince the locals that they would develop their areas and the government will provide all-out facilities to them.
