Though rain and cloudy weather has kept the temperature at reasonable level in upper parts of the country including Northern Punjab, KPK and AJK, non supply of required quantity of furnace oil to the IPPs has led to increased load shedding as power shortfall climbed to 4200MW. According to Water and Power Ministry officials, electricity generation was affected as power distribution companies were not receiving required quantity of furnace oil and money.
Owing to this power shortfall, loadshedding is being carried out for 11 hours in Lahore and other big cities while small cities and villages are bearing upto 18-hour power outages. The power demand in the country is 14,000 mega watts.
It is getting worse and worse with each passing day.
