Rescue 1122 reiterates commitment to saving lives

A seminar was held on “World day for Health & Occupational Safety” at Emergency Services Academy, Ferozepur Road, Lahore.
Rescue and Safety Officers of different districts, Emergency Field Staff, Rescue Management and under training rescuers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Mardan and Punjab attended the seminar.
Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said the annual “World Day for Safety and Health at work” promoted the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. The purpose was to promote and create safety and health culture to reduce the number of work related deaths and injuries.
While addressing the rescuers of different provinces the director general advised to take stringent steps to ensure their personal safety like wearing of safety helmets, gloves, masks, safety shoes and fire turnout gears during rescue operations. He said personal protection equipment not only provides protection but also enhances the working capacity of rescuers.
The DG said Rescue 1122 believed in saving lives and changing minds by providing emergency care and through coordination with organizations working on similar objectives. He expressed his commitment to work for development of safer communities through active community participation and said that rescuers should be model of safety for others by practicing safety precautions.
The increasing number of emergencies can be prevented through effective planning and community involvement particularly emergencies at work place can be reduced through coordinated efforts amongst industrial units and concerned organisations, he added.
