Very long arm of the law?

Inspector General (IG) Punjab had convinced that he will take concrete steps to wipe off the ‘thana culture’ from the province on immediate basis. This was a statement given by him in previous months. The ‘thana culture’ has become very crude over the years. Filing an FIR for regular citizens is almost impossible and these are only used when the police force finds beneficial for them. A law within the police force is being carried out and some policemen can get away with almost anything.
This behaviour of the police has actually widened the trust deficit between them and the citizens of the country. Steps must be taken to wipe off this ‘thana culture’ so that both parties can come together and work towards a friendly and peaceful society.
