Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said on Monday that there was no danger to democracy except the corruption from elements in the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Talking to reporters outside the Punjab Assembly, he said all three political forces – PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Awami National Party – in Karachi were busy in the blame game and none was ready to clarify accusations leveled against it. He said President Asif Ali Zardari played a drama in Nawab Shah for three-minute walk in rainwater and actually he had no pain for the flood affected people of Sindh. Regarding a question about the abduction of Shahbaz Taseer, Khan said it was simply a matter of kidnapping for ransom, for which the police were investigating.
He dispelled the impression that Taseer was abducted by activists of a terrorist organisation. “Our investigations consolidated the doubt that he was abducted for ransom,” he added. The Minister parried a question when he was asked to share the developments made so far in the case. “We cannot say further about the case at this stage because it may help kidnappers change their strategy,” he said, adding that the capital city police officer Lahore would soon apprise the media about the latest developments in this regard.
Khan said all available resources were being utilised to eliminate dengue virus. He said the chief minister himself was active and monitoring the arrangements made for dengue eradication.
