There is no chance of a judicial martial law in the country and the forces spreading rumours of a government-judiciary confrontation are trying to derail the democratic system, President Asif Ali Zardari’s Assistant Political Secretary Fauzia Wahab said on Saturday.
She was talking to journalists at different functions of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). President Asif Ali Zardari’s Punjab Coordinator Naveed Chaudhry, PPP Punjab Finance Secretary Aurangzeb Shaafi Burki, Federal Minister and PPP Lahore President Samina Khalid Ghurki, PPP Lahore Women Wing President Faiza Malik and PPP Punjab Information Secretary Dr Fakharuddin Chaudhry were also present on the occasion. Fauzia said that all institutions were working within their limits and situation of the country did not allow any kind of adventure adding that it would not be beneficial for anybody. After visiting the Bahria Dastarkhwan and launch of Benazir Ka Langer, she told journalists that the PPP respected all institutions and limits of every institution were mentioned in the constitution.
Fauzia said that the party leadership was committed to run the government by remaining within the constitutional limits. She said that the PPP considered the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) as its coalition partner and it was up to the MQM whether its leadership accepted it or not adding, “It will be a pleasure for the PPP if the MQM rejoins the government.” Fouzia announced renaming of Bahria Dastarkhwan as Benazir Ka Langar across the country and thanked the administration of Bahria Town and Bahria Dastarkhawn for changing the name.
The scheme was a great service, as about 10,000 people were served free meals two times a day with honour across the country, she added. Afterwards, Fauzia attended a function arranged in connection with the launch of the PPP Lahore Women Wing website.
Separately, Samina Khalid Ghurki inaugurated Minhala-Pidhana Road in her constituency NA-130. Samina, addressing a public gathering at Pihana village after the inauguration, said that she was following the footsteps of Benazir Bhutto and would ensure that the people of her constituency are provided with amenities of life. She thanked the people for the warm welcome.
